Istat is a iPod touch/iPhone app developed by bjango. With istat you can remotely monitor ram/mem/disk usage of your home computers or remote servers.
Istat server is available for mac and Linux. Linux version must be compiled manually, but it isn’t very difficult task if you have compiled stuff before. One difference on Linux version is that you can’t track temperatures. There is no support for windows.
You can track:
- Mem usage
- CPU usage
- Disk usage
- Net usage
- Uptime
- Load
- Temperatures
You can also view information from your iPod/iPhone. One cool feature is “free memory”. With free memory command you can clear iPods/iPhones memory and make it run faster. (?) You also find id number and mac address.
There is also good traceroute and ping tools. Only thing I would like to have is pinging range of ip:s.
This app is now on sale 1.5e and it is worth of that 1.5e

One of the best horror/puzzle games ever is on sale at steam. You can buy 3 awesome games just for 5e! Not bad price at all
I have played demos and techdemos of penumbra long time ago, but I didn’t bought the full version. But now I got full version of every game on penumbra for very nice price.
But one of the best things that I can say about penumbra.
- Runs on every modern computer and also on older ones.
- Nice graphics
- Awesome physics engine. (Many puzzles are based on physics)
- Lots of nice puzzles
- Interesting story
- Runs on Linux/Mac/windows (But the steam version wont run on linux natively
But it looks like it is possible to run this with wine.)
- Creepy game
At this price, I recommend to buy it now, as its on sale only for this weekend.

iStat menus is great system monitor for Macintosh. It adds small icons and and graphs to menubar. Because they are always visible, it is easy and fast check what is happening on system. iStat menu is easily configurable, so you can easily disable and modify menus to meet your needs. With one click to menu, it opens and shows more detailed information.
It is fast and also works on older PowerPC Mac. Try it.

iStats disk menu opened.

Some time ago I found excellent music player called Songbird. It has cool iTunes like interface and it can be modified easily. Because it has been based on same XUL-engine that Firefox uses, you can install addons easily. Addons are automatically updated when new version come.
Best features:
- Customizable
- Themes
- Good last.fm Scrobbling integration
- Multi-platform
- SHOUTcast radio integration
- Smart playlists
- It is open source
But there is some bad things also. It is not as fast as Amarok (taking 125megs of memory!) and it doesn’t support PPC-processor on Mac. ( I don’t have Intel Mac
) So when I use KDE I will play my music on Amarok, when I have Gnome I will use Songbird and when I am on my Mac I will use that annoying iTunes.
I am waiting for a 1.0 release…
