   you should take a look at these two plugins, they arent native but i love them:

   Plugin-Manager – Allows you to install plugins automatically from within the wp-admin

   Wordpress Automatic Upgrade – Allows you to upgrade wordpress automatically.

   I personally love them, but they can take some getting used to.

   As a side note: wordpress 2.7 beta has automatic upgrades, so that will be included by default after your next upgrade

   Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Wordpress 2.5 and above already has automatic upgrades.

   BurstCMS (http://burstcms.googlecode.com/), an open source CMS that k00pa, I, and a third developer (http://friendfeed.com/voyagerfan5761) are working on will have a package manager that will allow users to install new things without having to use FTP or similar.

   (Sorry for the self-promotion, lol.)

   @possible248: I have version 2.6 and I don’t have automatic upgrades. I can only upgrade plugins.

   And no problem with promo
